Heavy-duty rack guide
Specify heavy-duty racks clearly.
A buyer-focused checklist for asking the right questions and comparing equivalent rack quotations.
This guide helps buyers prepare a requirement. Final load ratings and suitability must come from the configuration-specific proposal and supporting documents.
What information should a heavy-duty rack supplier request?
A supplier should ask about the stored goods, maximum load, load distribution, shelf or pallet dimensions, number of levels, handling method, warehouse dimensions and project location. A quotation based only on the words “heavy duty” is not enough to compare systems.
Which capacity figure should you compare?
Compare the stated capacity of the proposed configuration and the conditions attached to it. Clarify whether the figure is per shelf, beam pair, pallet position, bay or complete structure. Also confirm how the load must be distributed.
What should be written in the quotation?
| Item | What to verify |
|---|---|
| Configuration | Bay dimensions, number of levels and clear openings. |
| Rated load | The applicable unit, load distribution and stated conditions. |
| Materials and finish | Specified components, material details and coating or finish. |
| Included components | Frames, beams or shelves, bracing, fixings and accessories included in the offer. |
| Logistics | Packing, freight, unloading and delivery destination. |
| Installation | Scope, site readiness, exclusions and completion documents. |
How should buyers compare two proposals?
Use the same dimensions, loads, quantities and installation scope for both suppliers. A lower price may describe a different configuration, material specification or included scope. Ask questions until the comparison is equivalent.
Can a supplier serve a project outside its home city?
Yes, if freight, delivery access and any installation arrangement are agreed for the destination. A supplier can serve Maharashtra or another state without claiming a local branch there.
What should happen after installation?
Ask for relevant use, inspection and maintenance guidance, and keep the configuration information available. Changes to levels, loads or layout should be reviewed with the supplier before use.
